Chennai, March 16: Renowned music composer AR Rahman was admitted to a hospital in Chennai on Sunday morning due to dehydration but was discharged shortly after doctors confirmed his stable health. The 58-year-old musician’s manager, Senthil Velan, confirmed that Rahman had undergone a series of tests and was found to be in good health.

Rahman’s sister, AR Reihana, dismissed rumors that he was admitted due to chest pain, stating that the composer experienced gastric issues and mild neck pain caused by dehydration.

“Nothing serious happened. He had dehydration and gastric problems, but he is fine now,” Reihana clarified in a statement to PTI.

Rahman’s hospitalization came shortly after he completed work on several upcoming projects, including “Lahore 1947,” “Thug Life,” and “Tere Ishq Mein.”

In a statement, Rahman’s wife, Saira Rahman, who announced their separation in November after 29 years of marriage, expressed her support and sent her best wishes.

“AR is in my prayers, and I wish him the best of health. In this tough time, I stand by him as I also recover from my surgery and wish him a speedy recovery,” Saira said. She also clarified that while they are separated, they are “not divorced” and urged the media to respect their privacy.

Rahman’s son, AR Ameen, took to Instagram to share a medical bulletin from Apollo Hospitals, confirming that Rahman had shown signs of dehydration but was discharged after a routine check-up.

“My father felt a bit weak due to dehydration, so we went ahead with some tests. I’m happy to share that he is doing well now. Thank you for your love and support,” Ameen wrote.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin also enquired about Rahman’s health and shared an update on social media, stating that the composer was “doing fine” and would return home soon.

Fans and celebrities flooded social media with messages of support and well-wishes. One fan wrote, “Get well soon, Thalaivaraeyy!” while another expressed confidence that Rahman would “live beyond 100 years.”

Rahman, a two-time Oscar and Grammy winner, remains one of the most influential figures in Indian and international music. His fans will undoubtedly breathe a sigh of relief knowing that their musical icon is back home and recovering well.
