UPI Lite Transaction Limit Doubled: New Rules Take Effect Immediately

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has raised the UPI Lite transaction limit from ₹500 to ₹1,000, with the total balance limit increased from ₹2,000 to ₹5,000. These changes are effective immediately as per NPCI’s latest circular dated February 27, 2025. Additionally, dormant UPI Lite accounts with no transactions in the past six months will be refunded to the source bank account by June 30, 2025.
