The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed Dr. Ajit Ratnakar Joshi as its new Executive Director (ED) with effect from March 3, 2025. Dr. Joshi, who previously served as Principal Adviser in the Department of Statistics and Information Management, brings over three decades of expertise in statistics, information technology, and cyber risk management.
In his new role, Dr. Joshi will oversee the Department of Statistics and Information Management and the Financial Stability Department. He holds a master’s degree in statistics from Nagpur University, a Ph.D. in monetary economics from IIT Madras, and a diploma in Development Policy and Planning. His extensive experience and contributions in macroeconomic statistics and policy-making position him as a key figure in shaping India’s financial landscape.
