Popular content creator Ankush Bahuguna revealed his harrowing experience of falling victim to a cyber scam that left him digitally isolated for 40 hours. Sharing his ordeal on Instagram, he disclosed how scammers manipulated him into self-custody, leading to financial losses and mental distress.
The ordeal began when an automated call falsely claimed his courier was canceled due to illegal contents. Posing as customs officials and later as police, the scammers accused him of serious crimes like drug trafficking and money laundering. They coerced him into staying on a video call, isolating him from external contact and even instructing him to perform suspicious banking activities.
Bahuguna later realized it was a scam after receiving a warning from a friend about similar fraud cases. Sharing his story, he aims to raise awareness about the increasing prevalence of such digital scams.
