She began her political journey with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at Delhi University, serving as the President of the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) in 1996-97. Her tenure in municipal politics includes multiple terms as a councillor and a stint as the Mayor of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC). As Chief Minister, Gupta aims to implement women-centric policies and address key issues in the capital.
